Expert Psychosis Care

A Comprehensive Approach to Schizophrenia

At Intra Health Services, we provide specialized, compassionate care for schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders. Our approach combines expert medication management, symptom monitoring, and coordination with therapists, case managers, and support systems to promote recovery and reduce relapse.

Schizophrenia symptoms include positive symptoms (hallucinations, delusions, disorganized thinking), negative symptoms (flat affect, social withdrawal, lack of motivation), and cognitive difficulties. We take time to understand your unique presentation and tailor treatment to help you achieve stability and meaningful engagement in life.

What Our Schizophrenia Care Includes

  • Thorough diagnostic assessment to clarify psychotic disorder type and rule out other conditions
  • Personalized antipsychotic medication management (first-generation, second-generation, long-acting injectables)
  • Regular monitoring for symptom response, side effects (metabolic, movement disorders), and adherence
  • Psychoeducation for individuals and families about psychosis, triggers, and relapse prevention
  • Coordination with therapists, case managers, and community support services

Our Process

How Our Schizophrenia Care Works

Structured, supportive, and collaborative — we help you manage symptoms and improve functioning.

1

Initial evaluation (90 min) to assess psychotic symptoms, history, and functional impact.

2

Collaborative treatment planning — antipsychotic selection, long-acting injectable options, and therapy/case management referrals.

3

Ongoing follow-ups (15-30 min) to monitor symptoms, side effects, adherence, and adjust treatment.

FAQ

Common Questions About Schizophrenia Treatment

What medications are used to treat schizophrenia?
Antipsychotics are the mainstay of treatment. We offer both first-generation (haloperidol, perphenazine) and second-generation (risperidone, olanzapine, aripiprazole, paliperidone) options, including long-acting injectable formulations for adherence support.
Do I need to take medication forever?
Schizophrenia is a chronic condition, and long-term medication is usually necessary to prevent relapse. However, we aim for the lowest effective dose and monitor closely for side effects.
What about side effects like weight gain or movement problems?
We proactively monitor metabolic health (weight, blood sugar, cholesterol) and neurological side effects. We can adjust medications or add treatments to manage side effects.
Can therapy help along with medication?
Yes. Cognitive behavioral therapy for psychosis (CBTp), family therapy, and supportive therapy can help with symptom management, social functioning, and relapse prevention. We can coordinate with therapists.
Do you treat first-episode psychosis?
Yes, early intervention is critical. We provide comprehensive care for first-episode psychosis, including family education, medication, and coordination with specialty programs.
